In partnership with ANZ, Oban was successful in being selected by the DFCRC to undertake a digital currency pilot for SuperStream Payments. Rather than using traditional bank accounts for clearing superannuation contributions, digital wallets will be set up for an Employer and a number of Funds whereby digital currency will move directly between these wallets. The intention is for the money and contribution data to arrive at the superannuation registries simultaneously thereby reducing what typically takes a number of days.
Out of 140 submissions only a handful of CBDC use cases were selected.
